This technique is a fundamental technique. The results will help you to grow your freestyling variation. I can’t remember how many times I’ve been doing every day things and a sick rhyme comes to mind. It pays off to have a little notebook handy to jot down the idea.

The best way to utilize this is to throw on different instrumentals, freestyling to them. It doesn’t matter how bad you are, just keep the thoughts coming, and write down the good lines. Rap, write, forget, repeat cycle. This is a good way to get a lot of ideas down in a notebook. Just freestyle, write down the good lines you accidentally come up with, forget about it and continue rapping. Rinse and Repeat.

FREESTYLE RAP TIP #2: The slow flow grows. Be patient and learn.

Now that you have a freestyle notebook, it’s a good idea to check back with it every so often, but it isn’t necessary to memorize it. Just use the lines as references, and some of your favorites you can memorize for later use in a freestyle battle. It’s good to just take these two steps slowly, and as you get better you can move on to the next stage of improving your freestyle battling.
